Smoke is the squeal to Burned by Ellen Hopkins. This book has surprised me to say the least. If you have read the book Burned you'd know that it ended with Pattyn getting in a car accident with her boyfriend Ethan, whose was being chased down by her strict alcoholic abusive Moron father. Which leads up to Ethan and Pattyn's unborn child and Ethan dying. Smoke goes into the after shadow of the accident, Pattyn's anger towards her dad and his abusive ways. Pattyn's sister, Jackie, gets raped by a boy from church who took her intentions wrong. Hearing Jackie's screams their father goes out to see where its coming from. Jackie now ruined and her father freshly filled with alcohol, he shows her one of his lessons and tries to pounded into her head that's shes going to hell. Sick of living the life she does Pattyn goes to put an end to it and she succeeds. With a gun in her hand and no future before her she runs. You'd think that with all the bad out of your life everything would be fine, but nothing is ever fine until the truth comes out. This book is good one for anyone who likes intense scenes but doesn't mind having to read the details to get there.
