When I first heard about the story of Aron Ralston I was inspired by his act of bravery, so I thought this book would be a good read. I was interested in learning in greater detail about his dilemma. The book starts off very slow and quite dull. It’s not very exciting to read about a man hiking through the canyons but the thought of the survival situation to come made me keep reading. As the book progressed the only interesting parts were his descriptions and thoughts in his survival situation, the rest of it was flashbacks from his childhood and past hiking experiences. I understand that he put those flashbacks in their to give the story more depth and detail, but I chose this book because I wanted to learn about his fight for survival not his past experiences. It has an overall good story and message to it, but some details were unnecessary.
